Phoenix

After eight months of fervent political discourse, (or, as I've repeatedly lied to myself, a series of stringent exercises to hone my skills as an essayist), I've decided to spruce things up a bit. The template's lighter, I've re-dedicated myself to making the writing tighter, and I even put up a little caricature of my divinely bitchy self.

As the Whitehouse of cards collapses into yet another mess the Dems will patiently clean up, there's always room in this little corner for lefties, leaners, folks on the fence so long they have picket prints on their settin' cheeks, and the Eisenhower-style Republicans of yore. We need to work together to grow this country into something better than the free lunch it's become.

Independence is involving. We have to be there, and want to be there. America evolves because we the people are involved with her direction. When we sit the bench, greed has a field day.

Today I'm declaring my independence from apathy. I'm holding a place in line for you.

I'll hold a place for anyone who needs to take a nature break.
But don't take too long and don't hesitate to talk to strangers, the party starts now.

and a nice caraciture too! it all begins somewhere, doesn't it. first we blog, then we see others feel as we do, then we notch it a little bit at a time, getting more and more involved with our world and the politics that affect it.
apathy sucks! become more involved with what runs your life!

Hey Paul - loved the part about talking to strangers, it's so true. Getting people to talk is the opportunity to plant a seed and get them thinking.

Thanks GTL! I'm still tweaking, and I need to work my links list, but overall, I'm pleased with the update.

I had a good time making that little caricature up, Ken. She looks almost sceptical enough to be me. The antithesis of apathy is endeavor. Keep pushing!

Jet, nice new look! And your little pic is great, though your nose is so tiny I don't know how it holds your glasses up.

By the way, you've been anything but apathetic. Keep doin' what you've been doin'.

Believe it or not, BK, that was the biggest nose, other than clown type choices, I had to choose from! I reality, I have an average nose and wear smaller rimmed glasses, but the cranky look is spot-on! ;-D

Nice, nice, nicey nice!!!!! I'm liking the easier to read colors and format and the caricature is FAB - though I'll argue the self characterization of "bitcy" - A) because nary a word has come out of your mouth that is so, in my opinion, and B) just because I think women should completely outlaw the word (in my snarky opinion)

And I'm with Brother Kenya - you've been ANYTHING but apathetic!

Thanks, OK Dem. Happy 4th to you too.

Patcam, glad you like it! I'm pretty happy with my first foray into the next level. You know, seeing code and actually understanding 7% of it... well, make that 5%...

Hi Snave! Thanks for the pop-in and the prose.

Pia, amiga, it's nothing compared to your awesome site, but thanks.

Frstlyml, note the characterization was divinely bitchy. Much different conotation; it's smackdown with aplomb. I'll see you there!

Hey Jet,

Love the new look - and I am all for tighter writing. Love your quote: "The antithesis of apathy is endeavor."

As long as we all embark on the expedition, with resourcefulness, we too shall overcome.

Blog on sister.
